Today I found a report on the Dubai website that indicated Demographics for the country based on population. Although I still haven't managed to determine the amount of people living in rural areas, the report did have a interesting statistic that showed the amount of infrastructure users in the country. The report had the following information:
2008 2007 2006
Main Telephone Lines (Per 1,000 Population) 451.9 415.4 385.0*
Cellular Phone Subscribers (Per 1,000
Population)** 2507.6 1991.1 1556.4*
Internet Users (Per 1,000 Population) 267.4* 259.4 215.5
This information will prove to be invaluable when determining the amount of telecom users vs the amount of the population in that country that I discovered before. I am still hopeful that I will be able to find a report stating how many of the Dubai population actually resides in rural areas. I am thinking that I may need to alter my search a bit to include the population that does agrarian work. This will likely help me to get a rough estimate about the amount of rural areas that exist in Dubai.
